HOW TRACKS DIFFER.
HORSES AND THEIR RECORDS. NEW ZEALANDEBS AT PERTH. It is anticipated that when racing is commenced on the new racecourse at Perth the time records of the most prominent horses will improve by at least three seconds. The circumference of the new course is 30 chains, but it m wide and well banked. Most of the trainers of horses who will be raced on it, arc anticipating the improved conditions. To show that the track now being used i≤ not one favourable to fast times, it may be mentioned that the cracks imported from New Zealand have not been able to get anywhere near their beet Dominion clips. Taraire went to Terth with a 2.13.} record. The best lie has done in competition there, is ~IJ. Bell Harold went at a 2.11 rate in aew Zealand, but his best effort in Perth has ,hown a 2.17 clip. The record credited to Dean Dillon in Perth is 2 Itfj, though he had 2.12 against him when he lett the Dominion. Locando Prince is another well outside his New Zealand record of 2.12!, since he lias been raced in Western Australia, where his best £ 2.18 and a clip. A peculiar feature is that manv horses imported to Westem Australia from South Australia, Victoria and New South Wales improve upon their times.
