WAIUKU TOWN BOARD.

The Waiuku Town Board met on Monday, Mr. J. J. A. Jamee (chairman) presiding. Mr H. M. Barriball was appointed acting- clerk during the illness of Mr. H. C. Hay. Mr. Chapman stated that the completed bore was satisfactory. The clerk of works reported that the second bore woe down to 73ft 6in on Saturday, September 7. The whole of the 6in main from the reservoir to the hotel, and the sin main from Court Street to the railway crossing (Queen Street) had been filled with water, and under pressure since 8.30 a.m. September 5. Mr. K. Lr. Holmes would not proceed with the Colombo Road-Victoria Avenue contract at 12/6 per chain. About 63 chains of 4m pipes were already laid in Kitchener Road and the plastering on the reservoir had been completedMesdames Bloomfield, Ducker and S. Neil waited on the board, as a deputation from the Waiuku Plunket Society. The chairman said the board nad the matter of a rest room in the town in hand, but there was no water supply. He hoped that in the near future a rest room would be provided, and also a room for the Plunket Society. Mr. Duthie said the board had a piece of land reserved for that purpose, so it would not be sio very long before the ecneme could be gone on with. Tenders were accepted as followe:—Mr. S Walters, excavating and back-nlling 16 chains of 4i : n water main in Bowen Street; Mr Jae. McEwen, excavating and oackfilling 20 chains of 3in water main trench in View Road, and for crossing Kitchener Road- Mr. S. Walters, for Bowen Street, and where Kitchener Road is *o be Messrs. Ward and Buttimore were appointed to report on the necessity of having a light between Kirk Street and the Public Hall.
