DIED IN TRAIN.
PASSENGER FROM TAUPIRI.
WELL-KNOWN TRAVELLER.

Mr. Sydney C. Jackson, a passenger on the 9.45 train from Frankton to Auckland to-day died when the train was between Taupiri and Huntly. Deceased was about 50 years of age, and for some years had been engaged as a commercial traveller for Messrs. Aulsebrook and Co. His home was at 20, Great Soiith Road.
Mr. Jackson joined the train at Taupiri. According to the statement of Mr. C. W. Hollis, an inspector on the staff of the Railway's Department, Mr. Jackson was looking ill when he entered the carriage. Noticing that he was finding difficulty in breathing, Mr. Hollis asked the railway officials at Taupiri if they would ring through to Huntly and arrange for a doctor to come to the train. This was done and Dr. K. C. Macdiarmid was at the station when the train arrived. Soon after leaving Taupiri, however, Mr. Jackson expired. The body was removed from the train at Taupiri and the police at once got into touch with headquarters in Auckland.
Deceased wae well known as a commercial traveller and also as one who had a worthy record of service both in the South African and European Wars. Since the latter experience he liad not enjoyed good health and about four years ago had a .serious breakdown. As recently as last week-end he mentioned to friends in Auckland that he was not feeling well. Mr. Jackson leaves a widow. It is understood that the cause of death was heart failure.
