FIRST EECORDS IN STONE
At the annual meeting of- the New Zealand. Division of .the Institute of Incorporated Secretaries, the report and aceounte ebowed steady progress, the New Zealand membership at June 30, standing at 35. The report made reference to the examinations during the year and to the success of the candidates. .The resignation of the New Zealand Registrar, Mr. F. T. Eyre, was accepted with regret, and Mr.' V. Kirk was appointed to the position. The election of officers resulted ae follows: Chairman, Mr. B. L. Bagnall; vicechairman, Mr. F. T. Eyre; council, Messrs. T. R. Congalton, T. B. Kay, C. Mackley, C. A. G. Marshall, R. A. Spinley. V. Kirk. Mr. R. E. Stratton was appointed auditor vice Mr. G. C. Mayo.. . At the conclusion -of the • official business, Mr. Julius Hogiifen gave an interesting address on the history of early companies. The retiring, president, Mr. 0. Mackley, spoke on the subject of early secretaries, showing that the profession of secretary dated back to about four or five thousand years, when the Hittites and Amorites carved out an account of ■their affaire in stone.. A vote of thanke was accorded to, the speakers and to the retiring president.
