EXPORT APPLE TRADE.
DEMAND GOOD AT HOME. | BUT QUALITY DISAPPOINTS. Writing by the last mail, under date June 27, our London correspondent says: "The Empire Marketing Board has been doing good and extensive advertisement of New Zealand apples this season, and it comes at a moment when the market for the Dominion's fruit is in very good condition owing to a shortage of apple supplies, and this in spite of the fact that we are in the midst of the soft fruit season. Strawberries are on the market and other soft fruits, but are short in supply and late. The price of apples is therefore holding up well, and the New Zealand c<sn " signments are doing better than they have ever done before during this season. "Unfortunately the last few shipments have reached Britain in not,too good condition, all the more unfortunate because Avonmouth and Glasgow, at which they were landed, were crying out for apples. They did remarkably well, considering the condition they were in, but if the fruit had been sound they would have made wonderful prices. This was due to it being kept on board at too high a temperature. "It was most disappointing that the | Karanga consignment, 4000 boxes for irt ooft ln i mfc k' boxes for Liverpool, and 10,339 boxes for Glasgow should have L™V ufc like this.
