LOANS SANCTIONED. NEW FIRE ALARM SYSTEM. PUKEKOHE, Thursday. Advice has been received that the local Government Loans Board has sanctioned the raising of a loan of £6000 for road and footpath work in Pukekohe borough; also a loan of £3400 for the erection of a new fire station at Pukekohe. Plans for a modern fire station have been approved by the Fire Board, and the next step is to let a contract for the work. A site has been acquired on the northern corner of Massed Avenue and Edinburgh Street. Regarding the loan of £6000 for proposed works in Pukekohe borough, a poll of ratepayers will be taken on August 7. The installation of a new electric fire alarm system, with 11 call boxes, has been completed for the Pukekohe Fire Board. The new system is more modern than the one it replaced, and it is expected to give greater satisfaction.
