GUM LAND PURCHASED.

AFFORESTATION VENTURE. 15,000 ACRES NEAtv MAROPIU. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) DARGAVILLE, this day. Dominion Forests, Ltd., an Australian company, lias purchased 15,000 acres of gum country from Marriner and Co. The land is in the vicinity of Maropiu railway station, 13 miles from Dargaville. A representative of the company, Mr. A. Gordon, arrived this morning to commence operations. The company intends planting pinus insignis at the rate of 1500 acres per annum, but this year it will confine its operations to the propagation of seed in the nursery.
