IN THE SOUTH.
Concerning business on the Christchurch Stock Exchange last week, the Lytteltou "Times" says:— Business recorded in Christchurch during the week was greater than in the previous week, and transcations were fairly well spread, although the brewery section remained the most active. The reported turnover was as follows, Monday, 1781; Tuesday, 3825; Wednesday, 4512; Thursday, 3918; Friday, 3987; total. 18,023. In addition, £1000 worth of Government stock was sold, £100 of company bonds and £200 of company stock. The analysis of the week's business is as follows: Banks. 2195 shares: insurance, 250; breweries. 5355; loan and agency, 460; shipping, 250; miscellaneous, 4360; mining, 5150.
