CHRISTCHURCH, this day.

The conditions were pleasant at Riccarton for training operations this morning, a sharp frost overnight being followed by bright sunshine. The outside of the trial grass track provided fair going though it was heavy after the recent rain. A large number of horses got through useful work, but there was nothing particularly exciting so far as the gallops on the flat were concerned. The proceedings were enlivened by a bit of jumping. Full Feather and Sudden Storm were early workers, their task being half a mile, which ran in 51 2-ss. They did it well, &nfl it was one of the best efforts of the morning. Honour and Pride covered six furlongs in 1.24 2-5, taking 55 2-5 for the last half-mile. Chide accompanied Starshooter over six furlongs in 1.23 3-5, the last halfmile occupying 565. Honeycomb sprinted half a mile easily in 535., a performance which was equalled by Dutch Money. Paquito and Belcaire covered six furlongs in 1.22, while Limerick and Marsham took 1.22 3-5. Battle Colours and Subdivision were together all through a five-furlong spin in 1.10 3-5. Leader and The Viscount were well matched over five furlongs run in 1.9 2-5. Quick Plunge and Nightdew were well matched over five furlongs, the last halfmile taking 53s and the full journey, from a slow start, 1.9 4-5. Kaikahu was schooled over two rounds of the steeplechase fences. He went at a sound pace all the way and gave one of his customary exhibitions of good jumping. '" Sea Boy went once round the steeplechase fences. He jumped safely, but he will require a lot of educating before ho is proficient at racing speed. Kate Kelly sprinted half a mile smartly in 52 2-os. . Master Garland jumped a circuit of the steeplechase fences, giving a safe exhibition at slow pace. Young Thurnham was schooled once round the steeplechase fences. The pace was on all the way, and the North Islander gave a very fine exhibition of fast jumping. Gala Day and Gay Jim were associated over a round of hurdles. They went at a solid pace throughout, and they were together at the last flight, where Gay Jim dislodged his rider. But for this mishap, it was an exceptionally fine bit of schooling. Haze and Overdrawn were associated over six furlongs, which they covered in 1.23.
