SIR JAMES GUNSON.
VISIT TO CALIFORNIA. IXTERCHAXGE OF PRODUCE. (From Our Own Correspondent.) SAX FEAXCISCO, May 29. The city of Los Angeles extended a most flattering reception to Sir .James Gun-son. former Mayor of Auckland,, when that interesting personage from overseas arrived at the harbour of San Pedro from Honolulu. Sir James was met by marine reporters. He predicted seasonal variations and natural growth would build up a great trade between the South Pacific islands and California. Xew Zealand and California are alike ;n many respects. Sir James eaid, explaining that both are in the same latitude south as California's northern latitude, and the difference in seasons will breed interchange of large quantities of produce. Sir James made an exhaustive inspection of Los Angeles and marvelled at its phenomenal growth.
