DAMAGE IN INANGAHUA,

REEFTON, this day

Earthquakes were felt at Reefton yesterday at 7.20 a.m., and 10.17 and 12.43 a.m. "The last shake lasted for several minutes, and was accompanied by much noise. It did great damage. Chimneys are down everywhere. Hotels had shelves cleared, and goods in stores were thrown on the floor. The damage will be heavy.

The whole district was alarmed, the violence of-the 10.IT shock being terrifying. Larry's Cutting is down and has stopped traffic.

Slight shocks were felt all clay yesterday, during the night and this morning. Much damage is reported from the Inangahua Valley. The railway line to Inangahua Junction is twisted and raised in places. All chimneys were levelled at Inangahua Junction.

The road at Dee Hill is reported to have slipped away.
