WHEAT DROPS AGAIN

LACKING POLITICAL RELIEF

(Received 10 a.m.)

(Australian and N.Z. Press Association.)

CHICAGO, June 12

The Senate's failure to accept the Farm Relief Bill, passed by the House, removed the main prop from the wheat market, and sent prices tumbling at opening, but reports that advocates of the debenture clause would work for its inclusion in the tariff bill and permit farm legislation to go through unhindered, restored more confidence later. Nevertheless, the sentiment continued nervous, and closing levels remained considerably lower namely:—July deliveries. '105% cents; September, 110% cents; December, 115% cents.

MINING NEWS.

MINE MANAGERS' REPORTS,

Haurnki Consolidated. —The mine manager reports as follows : —The winze below the 400 ft level at the junction of the Union Beach cross reef has been sunk to a depth of 20ft, at which point an increased flow of water was met with. Preparations are well under way for installing a small Cameron pump to deal with the water. Three faces were started to-day in- the stopes above the level on the Stockwood. Part of last week was employed in rising for the second ladder road and no quarts! was taken down in the stope where the gold was got. The compressed air pipe line is being relaid to the seaward face; this had to be taken down while the winze chamber and rise for ladder road was being cut. On Saturday afternoon the water supply was cut off for cleaning purposes, and we took the advantage of overhauling tlin pumping machinery which is again in good condition, and easily dealing with the winter flow.

TUI GOLD MINING COMPANY,

The Till Goldmining Company, whose mine is situated at the Knraka Creek, Thames, has been formed for the purpose of working the reefs exposed in the level driven by the London and Globe Corporation, of which the late Whitaker Wright was the head, now some three, decades ago. Three reefs of a promising nature were met with and are practically in a virgin state, and with plenty of backs the prospects of this company appear to be very favourable, more especially seeing that the spade work has beeu accomplished by the above corporation and the main working level is in excellent condition. Other well-known quartz veins exist on the property which have not been fully exploited.

At a meeting of directors last week Mr. L. G. I'. Siieneer was appointed chairman, Mr. I. W. Nichol secretary and Mr. YV. Moorcraft mine manager, and it was resolved that active operations should be prosecuted without delay.
