PAPAL LEGATE'S VISIT.

ENTERTAINED BY ITALIAN CLUB,

Hie Excellency Archbishop Cattaneo, Papal Legate for Australia and New Zealand, paid a visit to the Italian Club before his departure for Australia. H'i was cordially welcomed by the president of the club, Signor Campi. The distinguished visitor expressed his delight *t meeting such a number of his fellowcountrymen, and to learn that they were doing so well in this beautiful land of their adoption.

He enjoined upon them to be true to their holy religion and to their beloved Italy, and assured' them that if they fulfilled those noble qualities they would be good New Zealanders and win the respect and goodwill-of those amongst whom they lived.

The Legate moved amongst the mem bers and chatted freely, aeking individual members from which part of Italy they came. In many instances he was quite familiar with the localities mentioned. The president requested Mr. M. J. Sheahan to thank the Legate for his presence and to express the great pleasure the members felt at hie visit. The Legate in felicitous terms replied, and when, he took his leave was cheered iteartily by all those present.
