PRESENTATION.

On the occasion of his promotion to Inspector of New Zealand, Mr. H. C. Whyman, Auckland Superintendent of the Colonial Mutual Life Assurance Society, was yesterday presented with a travelling rug. Mr. H. N. Hunt, Auckland manager, speaking on behalf of the local staff, congratulated Mr. Whyman on his promotion. Mr. Whyman leaves for Wellington to-morrow.

Fa re welled by the members of the Auckland Stock Exchange, Mr. F. J. Whittaker, who has retired from business, and is leaving on a tour of Great Britain, was presented yesterday with a travelling rug and a set of pipes, in recognition of his 30 years' association with the Exchange. Mr. G. C. Creagli, _the chairman, in making the presentation, said, Mr. Whittaker was held in great esteem. He added that all members wished Mr. Whittaker a pleasant holiday abroad. In a brief reply Mr. Whittaker said he had pleasant memories of years spent on the Exchange. After thirty-one years' service on the road in the Auckland Province, Mr. W. Evans Young has been promoted to the position of sales manager in the warehouse of Messrs. Macky, Logan and Caldwell. His numerous friends met at the Travellers' Club this morning to congratulate him. Mr. C. C. Bach, as president of the club, presented him with a handsome roll-top oak desk.
