This morning at the Police Court Mr. V. K. Hunt, S.M., sentenced, a woman, to three- months' imprisonment, lifting. ~"■ i-f ■- ■'■ : '__'- The accused was Eliza Margaret Hilda; Collings (43), and she'pleadea guilty, to, a charge of stealing a pair.of silk s,t.ock-, ings worth 12/0. the property of George Court and fcons, Ltd: .v ' "-■ / ** [' Sub-Inspector. McCarthy said the woman was watched by a floorwa ker in the shop last evening: bhe took a pair of stockings from a counter and placed them in her pocket. Accused remained in the same spot.for same. and then walked put, of, the shop. .;On : beicn- followed and accosted, she refused; to <>lve her name, and wag. arrested. "This . woman lias been, coming, the Court regularly for theft.. since 1924," added the- sub-inspector - Stie. lias five previous convictions for theft, has already suffered imprisonment, and has also been on Papatoa Island for 12 months.
