TE AEOHA. The mild 1 weather ruling this week has beea followed by an exceptional growth, of pasture. There should be no shortage ot feed for stock during the winter months. At a meeting of the Cemetery Board on Thursday the question of a water supply was considered. It was decided that the cost of installation of pipes for a borough supply would not be warranted, and it was resolved that a GOO-gallou tank be erected. The secretary reported a credit balance of £43 5/2, and it was decided to institute a canvass for funds at an early date. Mr. F. E. Hughes presided at the monthly meeting of the Hungahunga Drainage Board. It was decided to raise a loan of £;;00 for extending No. S.B. outlet. Mr. J. Proctor, engineer,-reported on the widening of W.iihekau drain. The estimated cost was £327. a A letter was read from the Elstow Drainage Board stating it was prepared to discuss the question of amalgamation with the Hungahunga and Waitoa Boards. It was decided to meet the other boards to consider the amalgamation question. PAEROA. The Ohinemuri County Council met on Wednesday afternoon, the chairman, Mr. Colin Mason, presiding. The engineer, Mr. h. E. Shaw, reported that it would be necessary to erect a 40ft swing bridge with timbered approaches to clear the flood level of the Waimnto Stream. Mr. J. Noble wrote concerning the dangerous nature of the Cadmans Road railway crossing. He said eight motor accidents had occurred there, since January. The chairman said the council intended to interview the Minister of Railways during his visit to the district, and to ask him to authorise certain necessary work.

OPOTIKI. A successful ball was held in the Lyric Hall under the auspices of the 1.0.0.1>. and Rebekah lodges. The decorations, the floor and Ihe music were excellent, and the supper arrangements were carried out smoothly. The ball was a most enjoyable function. Good headway is being made by Mr. K. S. Brooks, contractor for the new Motu Rridge across the Motu Kiver at Mnraenui. It is anticipated that the bridge will be open for traffic at an early date. At a special meeting of the Opotiki Borough Council held on Tuesday night, the question of revising the charges for extraordinary supply from the borough water system was dealt with. Several recommendations were brought forward by the waterworks committee, and with minor modifications these were adopted. The price of water was considerably reduced, and' it was decided to put aside fifty per cent of the annual profits for a reserve fund to later increase the height of the present dam and extensions and other improvements.

At the ad mini meeting of the Opoliki Municipal Banu officers were elected as follow: —Patron. Mr. G. S. Moody; president, Mr. T. llitchens: conductor, Mr. W. Stevens; bandmaster, Mr. YV. W. B. Parkinson ; band sergeant, Mr. .T. Smith; treasurer. Mr. H. Jackson; secretary, Mr. H. Matthews ; committee, Messrs. \V. W. Parkinson, 11. Matthews. .7. Smith, E. Wrigley, and H. Jackson. The band is now on an entirely new footing, and during the next year should appear in public more often. It is intended to introduce new blood, and every facility will he given to those desiring to become members of the band.

TE AWAMUTU. The District Ilish School Committee ileciclerl to arrange for a deputation to meet the Minister of Edncation to secure improvements to the old infant school, which had been delayed because the committee and the Kdimation Board had so far failed in their representations to the Department for the purchase of five acres of land adjoining the main school; where additional classrooms could be erected. OHAKUNE. The Rev. C. IT. Isaacson, organising secretary of the Wellington Diocesan Social Service Board, is visiting the Ohakune Parish. Mr. and Mrs. (',. Veiteh, who have boon resident in Ohakune for the last three years, have removed to Auckland, Mr. Veiteh having been transferred to the Auckland branch of the Bank of New Zealand. Mr. Field, of the Forestry Department, has been transferred to Palmerstou North.
