TAUHEI DRAINAGE BOARD.
RATES INCREASED BY HALF.

MORRINSVILLE, Friday
At the monthly meeting of the Tauhei Drainage Board notice was given of intention to strike the following ratee for the current year (the previous rates arc given in parentheses):—General: A, I 7-16(1 d%cl); B, 2%d (l%d); C, l%d (l%d). Special: A, 1 5-16 d (%d); B, %u (y 2 d); C, 9-16 d (%d). Special area dram: A, lVsd; B, %d; C, %d (same as last yGtir.) The Ruaknra Swamp Amalgamation Committee wrote asking the board to consider the question of the amendment of the Land Drainage Act, and to forward an expression of its views to the committee. The board affirmed the principle of amalgamation, rating on tne acreage basis, and the extension of classification to provide more classes.
