"WON'T MIX," SAYS MAGISTKATE

WAIPUKURAU, Friday. • Patrick Egan, a drover, of Waipukurau, admitted to-day that he was in a state of intoxication when in charge of a motor car on April 18, and that he resisted Constable Butler in the execution of his duty. The magistrate, Mr. A. M. Mowlem, said beer and benzine would not mix. A drunken motorist was a serious menace on a road. On the first charge defendant was convicted and fined £20. His driver's license was cancelled, and he was prohibited from driving a motor vehicle until October 1, 1930. A prohibition order was issued by consent. On the second charge he was convicted and fined £5, in default one month's imprisonment.
