STATE APIARY WANTED,

(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) TIMARU, Thursday.

The annual conference of the National Beekeepers' Association ended to-day. After considering the report of the special committee set up to.deal with local marketing schemes, the conference unanimously decided to support the scheme at present in vogue, A remit was carried to the effect that steps be taken to ensure that fitting penalties shall be imposed by Courts' in cases brought under the Apiaries Act. It was decided to recommend the executive to press for the establishment of a State apiary at Palmerston North, to be conducted by the Department of Agriculture. Mr. R. Gibb, Southland, was elected president, and Mr. P. A. Hillary, Tuakau, vice-president. The selection of the venue of the next conference was left to the executive, with a recommendation that it be held at Auckland.
