STUDENT FOOTBALLERS.

AUSTRALIAN 'VARSITY SIDE.

THIRD TEST TO-MORROW.

THE RIVAL TEAMS

Fit and well, the Australian Universities Rugby football team arrived at Auckland from Wellington by the Main Trunk express this morning. The side have come to Auckland to play the last of three Test matches against the New Zealand Universities, while they will also meet the Auckland University fifteen before leaving for Sydney next Friday. -

From a match winning view point, the tour of the Australians has not been attended with any great success, but the visitors have proved themselves generous losers, and they have no complaints. "We are a little bit disappointed with the results, but we have no squeal. We have played up to form all right, but the New Zealanders have been a little too good for us," said the captain, N. K. Lamport, on arrival to-day.

The Australian captain said that the team had had a great time in New Zealand, and were very grateful for all that had been done for them. The side had found that the interpretation of the rules of the game was very much the same in New Zealand as in Australia, although it had been noticed that the New Zealand referees were not as strict in regard to hanging on to the ball and to the pass off the ground. The form of the team in the second Test had been much better than that in the first, but the visitors had been unable to make up the leeway lost in the first quarter of an hour when the New Zealanders put on fifteen points. The outstanding successes of the tour were G. McMullen, the full-back, A. K. Kennedy, a winger, and M. R. Morey and M. Morton, forwards.

During their stay in Auckland the visitors will ba billetted at various homes. To-morrow morning they will be entertained at Messrs. Milne and Choyce's tea rooms, and in the evening they will attend a dance at the University. On Sunday there will be a motor drive, with a stop at Ellerslie for afternoon tea. It is expected that the team will travel to Helensville on Monday, when they will be the guests of the Kaipara - Rugby Union. Tuesday will be a free day, but after the match against Auckland on Wednesday the visitors will be the guests of the Auckland University at a dinner. On Thursday evening they will attend the graduates ball in the Scots Hall, and on Friday will sail for Sydney.

Despite the fact that. the rubber is no longer in doubt, the third Test tomorrow is expected to be very keenly contested, and it is anticipated that the accommodation at Eden Park will be well taxed. The teams are as follows:— N.Z. Universities. Full-back: Bush. 'three-quarters: Goodwin, Alexander, Minns. Five-eighths: Hawkes, Mackenzie. Half-back: Jenkin. Rover: Jolly. Forwards: Douglas, Robertson, Henley, Blacker, Edgar, Anderson and Linton. Reserves: McKay, Stotter, Colgan, Brooker and Edwards. Australian Universities. Full-back: McMullen. Three-quarters: A. K. Kennedy, D. H. Kennedy, Barker, Nairn. Five-eighth: Nicholas. Half-back: Lamport. Forwards: Ramsden, Morton, Wiseman, Cay, Morey, Aherns, Dezarnaulds, Joyce.

Reserves: Dangar, Rountree, Flynn, Nield, Robertson, Bevendge. Mr. Frank Sutherland will be referee.
