ILLICIT WHISKY STILL.
» FOUND IN INVERCAKGILL. OWNER HEAVILY FINED. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) INVERCARGILL, Monday. Edward Nichols, aged 35, was fined £100 to-day on each of two charges of unlawfully making spirits and of having in his possesison an unlicensed still or apparatus suitable for distilling. Accused pleaded guilty to both charges. Mrs. M. O'Brien was fined £f>o for occupying premises on which distillation was carried out. A recommendation is to be made to the Governor-General for the remission of the fine in whole or in part. The magistrate reserved his decision in the case of Bayne Robertson, a young man who was found on the premises.
