MARGARET W. SOLD.
TO TRADE TO GISBORNE. FARMERS' XEW VESSEL. To replace the Elsie Mary, which foundered in the Bay of Plenty last March, the Gisborne Sheepfarmers' Co. have bought the auxiliary four-masted schooner Margaret W. from Captain A. F. Watchlin. Built at Svenborg, Denmark, in 1919, the Margaret W. is a steel vessel of 394 tons. She was purchased and brought to Xew Zealand by Captain Watehlm in 1926 and has since traded between Xew Zealand and Australia. Extensive alterations were made to the vessel in February last. A new Fairbanks-Morse engine of 265 h.p. was installed and a bridge and chartroom built aft. With the increased engine power the topmasts were dispensed with and the sails reduced to trysails. Under her new owners the Margaret W. is to ply between Auckland and Gisborne. Captain L. D. Clark, of the Tiroa, will take command, while Captain J. R. Owen, formerly master of the Elsie Mary, will be appointed to the Tiroa. The latter vessel will in future run to Hicks' Bay, Tologa Bay and Tokomaru Bay. The Margaret W. is to sail on her first voyage under her new. owners on Tuesday morning.
