ILLEGAL SALE OF LIQUOR.

PUKEKOHE, this day,
At yesterday's sitting of the Pukekohe Court, Edward Dane, licensee of the Bay View Hotel, Kaiaua, was fined £-> and 12/ costs for exposing liquor for a ale during the time the premises were required by law to be closed. He was ordered to pay costs on charges of selling liquor, and of keeping licensed premises open on Sunday. March 3.
Defendant had admitted serving the liquor, but said he did not sell it, that he had merely invited two men to have a drink. Six other men had called at the hotel a jiinutes previouslv, and all had been refuted liquor.
The two men found in the bar Robert rrendergast and Francis Ferris were fined £1 racli and costs.
