One of W. .T. Tomkinson"? patrons has purchased from Mr. P. Watson, of Oaklands Farm, Halswell. a. very nicft colt by Travis Axworthy from Dillon, the dam of Great Hope.

Black Wattle, recently brought from Australia, by a patron of J. .1. Kennerley's stable, ha? been nominated for the farewell Handicap, a mile saddle race, at the Ashburton meeting, to be held on April 20.

It is reported that M. B. Edwards has received several additions to his team in Fair Wave, Pleasant Wave and Play Wave, all in the ownership of the Southlanders. Messrs. Stevenson and Mc-Math. S. A. Edwards has again joined M. B. Edwards' stable.

With two wins on end. and loth in the easiest fashion, Dawdler will carry big money if }-!. A. McMillan steps him out at Te Arolia. where he is on 4.46 in the Manawaru Handicap and M.-S2 in the Hot. Springs Handicap. Dawdler was bred by A. ('"Ous") Cameron and sold to his present owner for a few pound?.

At the trotting stock sales held in Christchurch last week 23 horses were sold at less than 20gs.

Guy Pointpr. a winner at the Grpymouth Jockey Club'? meeting, is a four-year-old gelding by Feal Guy—lvy Pointer, and is trained by A. Hendricksen at. Halswell. He was bred by Mr. R. C. Fi?ken, the o« ner of Peterwah.

Glideaway is not likely to do any more racing in New Zealand, and it i? intended to ship her to Melbourne by an early boat. Glideaway was leased by W. .T. Tomkinson on a visit he paid to Melbourne last year. In Australia the mare had raced Mi.-cessfullv over a mile to two miles and earned altogether £225/>, which, considering the. few opportunities offered, was considered very good money. Glideaway made her fir:-: appearance before, the New Zealand public at Addington last November, when she started twice hut was unplaced. She was next produced at- the Auckland Trotting Club's summer meeting were she ran second in rhp Akarana Handicap, of a mile and a quarter; second in the Dominion Handicap, of two miles: second in the Xew Year Handicap, of two miles, and first in the Premier Handicap, of one mile and aquarter. Next she won the Dunedin Cup, of two miles, at For bury Park, and was unplaced in the Metropolitan Handicap at the same meeting. At the Otahuhu meeting in February she won the two principal race-, the Otahuhu Cup and the Dominion Handicap, each of two miles. Tomkinson has done particularly well with Glideaway. and from her first start id New Zealand until the present time she has earned £25(>0. more than s he had earned in all her previouracing days. Glideaway is ten yearold and was nominated for the Easter meeting at Addington, hut a cold interfered with her preparation and she was not produced.
