VACATION EXCURSIONS.
HOLIDAY RATES NEXT MONTH.
FOR PARENTS AXD FARMERS.
For the benefit of parents who desire to travel with their children during the school vacation, and also in the interests of members of the farming community who take their holidays in the winter months, the Railway Department has decided to repeat the innovation of vacation excursion rates, which proved so successful last year. Holiday excursion tickets will be available fronj Thursday, May 9. to Saturday, May 18. inclusive, available for return until Saturday, June 15, as between all main line stations in both islands and on the Picton section. Pupils desiring to travel at that time will not require certificates, but those who wish to take out vacation tickets prior to May 9 or after May 18 will need to produce certificates, in their case the tickets will be available for return up to a period of one month. The general manager of railways, Mr. H. H. Sterling, has circularised district stationmasters with an instruction that they advise all schools and colleges in order that headmasters may arrange for whatever certificate* may* be required.
