Discussion Over Deportation Bill.

When the bombs were hurled from the gallery of the Indian Legislative Assembly to-day during a crowded sitting several persons were injured, including Sir George Schuster, Finance Member of the Executive Council, and four Indian members of the Legislative Assembly. Immediately the bombs had •been thrown the police locked all the doors. The outrage took place ju<r, as Mr Patel, President of the Assembly, was about to give a ruling in regard to the Public Safety Bill, giving ilio Indian Government power to deport agitators. Koccntly men alleged to be Communist agitators were arrested in different parts of India, and Mr. I'atcTs expected ruling was as to whether discussion of the bill should be postponed until after the trial of these men. Sir John Simon, chairman of the British Parliamentary Commission, wus present in the gallery. !!■_» escaped injury. As chairman of the I'oval Commission of Inquiry into (he working system of the Government and the development of representative institutions he has been showing a close interest in the working of the Legislative Assembly. Sir George Schuster, whose injuries are stated to be very slight, has had wide international experience of finance and economics, and was formerly partner in the London banking firm of Schuster.
