SYDNEY THOUSAND.
WON BY DIRECT HOME,
Newspapers which arrived yesterday show that the Sydney Thousand decided at Victoria Parle on Monday of last week was won by Direct Home, a mare sent over from Victoria, and in winning the bip race the daughter of Directaway landed a betting plunge on the part of her connections. In winning, the Victorian mare covered the distance in 3.20*. As the time had only been bettered once in the Sydney Thousand, it was responsible for the mare starting an odds-on favourite for the final. Dead-heaters in the second division, Frisco and Globepool, were the other runners. Globepocd was on scratch, while the other two runners were on 24 yards behind. At the start Frisco was badly left, while Globepool
led Direct Home into the straight »nd ! out of the straight the first time. Direct j Home took the lead at the half-mile, | with Globej>ool second and Frisco, who broke here, well back, third.
