ELLERSLIE TRAINING NOTES.

A QUIET MORNING. Training operations were not very brisk at Ellerslie this morning, but with the Easter meeting approaching the track work is sure to liven up. The course proper, with the trestles about 35ft out from the rails, and the No. 2 grass track were available, the going being hard and fast. Coarse Proper. Neil and the Quin Abbey—Mountain Dream filly, both of whom are in J. Buchanan's stable, were sprinted four furlongs, but were not on a time making errand. Lady Suzanne was allotted a five furlong task at a 9trong pace, and hit out very freely without being required to make time. The Lover strode over a round '>:i 2.13 3-5, running the last six furlongs in 1.24 3-5. This horse is in great heart for his engagemnt in the Franklin Cup next week. Odin went very freely over a round which he covered in 2.lf> 2-5, the final seven furlongs owiji-ying 1.40 2-5. Hyde Park and Sir Archie were companions over a mile. Hyde Park was soon iii front, and covering the first two furlongs in 25 2-ss. three in 3S> <md tinfirst half-mile in 52 l-ss, he completed the distance in 1.45 3-5. Sir Archie's time was 1.47, but lie had a lot the worst of the weights. Bonny Day and Lineroo ran six furlongs in 1.22 with little between them at the finish.

Bahama finished in front of Catoinsi over a half-mile journey in .">2 3-ss. Baby Bun and The Thorn registered 1..'54 for a seven furlong task, both doing their work well. No. 2 Grass. Salamander was not doing hi~ best while running six furlongs in 1.2"). Fernden was a shade better than British King at the end of four furlongs run in 50 1-5. Roman Pearl sprinted home from the half-mile peg in f>os. Cay Cockade was not fully extended while running seven furlongs in I.3ti, the last six furlongs taking 1.21 2-5. Harbour (Jiew, Sleepy Sol, Bayly Damon, King Emerald, To Money, Mvola. Karamu, Kauri Park, Standfast, Modest Boy, and Sulla all did useful tasks on the tan track.
