THE VETERANS' HOME.

NEW SUPERINTENDENT APPOINTED. MAJOR J. A. WALLIXGFORD. Major S'. A. Willingford, M.C.. has been appointed superintendent of the Veterans' Home, in succession to Major C. H. Nutsford, who has retired. Major Wallingford, who will take up his new duties at an early date, retired in August. 1927, after 42 years' service with the Imperial and New Zealand military forces. Of this period, he spent 16 rears with the New Zealand forces. At the outbreak of war he went to Gallipoli as infantry brigade machine gun officer. He is well known as a master in the art of musketry instruction, and holds several prizes for shooting. He won the rifle-shooting championship of the British Army six times within nine years, and other successes attended his appearance at Bislty. Besides his work I of organisation and supervision, he found time to do quite a lot of rifle-shooting on his own account in New Zealand. He has held several appointments on the | staff of the Northern Command.
