KILLED BY MOTOR CAR.
ACCIDENT IN CHRISTCHURCH.
TWO MEN KNOCKED DOWN.

CHRISTCHURCH, this day.
A motor car driven by a woman knocked down two men iu Manchester Street last evening. One of the men died in the Christclmrch Hospital ten minutes later. The other man sustained very grave head injuries, necessitating an immediate operation. The identity of the men is not known. Letters in the possession of the deceased were addressed to Stephen James Johnston, of Te Kopuru, Dargaville. The injured man was semi-conscious when picked up. When asked his name he said "Balsgrove ' or a similar name, and then quickly laj. Ed into unconsciousness. The victims of the accident were crossing Manchester Street when a I closed car approached, and they were knocked down. The car ran along the footpath some distance and collided with another motor car parked near the footpath. The woman driver of the car was taken to a nearby hotel in a state of nervous collapse.
