WHANGAREI RACING CLUB. REQUEST TO MINISTER. fr.y Telegraph.— Own Correspondent.) WHAXGAREI. this day. The Hon. P. A. dc la Porrelle. Minister of Internal Affairs, was interviewed yesterday by the committee of the Whanejarei Raein? Club, wlio made a strong appeal for th<? allocation .if one of the floating totalizator permits. It wa< pointed out that the club was run o.i a standard more approaching the metropolitan standard than that of a country dub. and therefore deserved an extra day's permit in order to attract owners who would not go to the expense of coining to Whangarei to a single day's meeting.
The Mini-ter wa« much impressed liv the club's appointments and record ami promised to give the claims careful consideration.
During the day the Minister visited the high school and other institutions and expressed himself as pleasuraMv surprised at all he saw.
