MOVEMENTS OF SHEEP.

BIG MORRINSVUXE RETURNS. THRIVING INDUSTRY. MORRINSVILLE, Friday. From November. 1028, to February 2, 1920, 50.454 sheep have passed through the Morrinsville station yards. Of these 16,770 were inwards and 42,754 outwards. The figure is a large one and easily eclipses the. return of 45,382 for the corresponding period of last year. The fat lamb season started in November, and for the four weeks ended December 8 a total of 0852 left the yards, inward stock for this period numbering 2383. *

The month of January >aw a considerable increase, the total leaving here reaching lo.TOti. compared with 15,303 last year. The sheep imported numbered only 4 , .>5 for this period, compared with 3148 the previous year. The most remarkable figures are those from January 5 to February 2, when 20.1 (Hi sheep left Morrinsville, a marked increase on last season's figures for the period of 12.624. Sheep arriving at Morrinsville numbered 13,892 compared with 5221 last year. The discrepancy between the outward and inward returns is accounted for by the fact that whereas it is usual to truck fat lambs many sheep farmers import their ewes bv road.

There is little difference between the truckings of cattle for the three months period. The figures are as follows, with those of last year in parentheses: Inwards f>69 (321), outwards l.Tflf, (1R94) total 2035 (2015).
