MRS. J. DALRYMPLE INNES.

The death occurred in the Waikato this week of Mrs. J. Dalrympl? lones, a lady of culture, but much of her life was spent in out districts in New Zealand, where her husband occupied teaching under the Wanganui and Taranaki Education Boards. After his retirement from the teaching profession, the Innes family took up a block of land on the. southern slopes of Mount Egmont, and for some years were the furthest back of any of "the bush settlers in the Kaponga and Opunake areas. At the beginning of the century, Mrs. Innes went Home, and was presented at Court, and attended many functions in London. She was a lady of most pleasing disposition and. although situated in the backbloeks, the Innes' home was a centre of all that was best in the country life of thus Dominion, where the wayfarer was ever assured of a warm welcome. Mrs. Innes, after her husband's death, came to live in the Waikato with her youngest son, having attained to nearly 80 years of age.
