OBITUARY.
MR. FRANCIS HOLMES
At the age of 64 years, Mr. Francis Holmes, of Kelburn, died yesterday. He had many friends in this city, where he was born, his education being gained at the Auckland Grammar School. Upon leaving school, Mr. Holmes joined the staff of the Union Steamship Company, and in 1898 was transferred to Wellington as head accountant. He resigned in 1904 and joined in forming the firm of Messrs. Riiey and Holmes. The partnership was dissolved in 1909. and he founded the firm of Francis Holmes. A few years ago the business was turned into a limited liability company, with Mr. Holmes as nfanaging director. Mr. Holmes was married to a daughter of Mr. James Speight, of Dunedin, who died about three years ago. The following children survive:—Mr. F. C. Holmes, managing director of Francis Holmes, Ltd., and Misses Christie and Mollie Holmes. Another son. Mr. W. Holmes, was killed in France in 1916.
