CLEAN SWEEP MADE.

BLAZE AT FREEMAN'S BAT. VACANT SECTION CLEARED. A fire that broke out on a vacant section near Tanshawe Street, Freeman's Bay, made a clean sweep early this afternoon. Attempts by the City Fire Brigade to put out the blaze by the ordinary methods of coping with grass fires were ineffective, and a powerful jet of water was playing on the flames before they could be brought under control. No damage was caused, and the fire served a good purpose in removing rubbish which was a source of fire danger.
