CYCLIST'S DEATH.
MOTORIST ON TRIAL.
Cyril Sydney Clark, aged IS, wa* charged attbe Snpreme Court thie morning with negligent driving so as to cause the death of Hugh Alexander Cammock.
The case was the result of a motor accident on the Great South Road at? Westfield on December 12, when deceased, who was cycling, was knocked down by accused's car.
Mr. L. P. Leary and Mr. E. H. Northcroft represented the prisoner.
Mr. V. E. Meredith, for the Crown, said that accused and his father were driving from Auckland to their farm at Maramarua. They left town about : 0 a.m. Near the stone crus-her at Westfield, the car collided with the cyclist, who had a light burning and na<. coming in the direction of the city. He was killed outright. Counsel said that the suggestion was that accused was driving at an excessive speed. Father of the prisoner, Ernest Henrv Clark, started his evidence, but the court was adjourned till 2.15.
