FIRMS REFUSED EXTENSION. STREET LIGHTING. Request* for the extension of several cumract* with the I'ity Council were Hindi , to the council last evening by various firms. Upon the recommendation of the Work- and Store- Committees, following a conference with the firm- concerned, the request* were dedined. The contract* in quc-tioii were tliose relating to the -upply of shingle and sand from -I. -1. Craig. Limited: team and motor hire from Win-tone. Limited: -curia carting, from Uelich. Limited: the -upply of rubble to the city engineer's department and motor lorrie- to the tramway- department, by Mr. -T. W. Morgan. Installation of 2d additional light- on the city street- were decided a< follow: (>rey Lynn. 11l (We-tmere Crescent. We-tnierc Park Avenue. Sunnybrae Cre>cent. two each: Ol>an Road. WinsomeiT Crescent. Gilbert Road, Seftoil Road, one each i ; I'oint Chevalier, five I Harbour View Road, two: Muripura Avenuo. Marauui Avenue. Wainona Avenue, one eaein : Reniiiora. three (Finlayson Avenue. Ranui Road. Pere Jtoad. one each i; Kp>om. twu iMorvern Road).
Messrs. A. J. Kntrican. J. B. Paterson and M. -1. Coyle were reappointed the city's representatives on tile Auckland Fire Board.
The Mayor and Mr. Paiei-on wore appointed delegates to attend the annual conference of the Municipal Association at Wanganui during March.
