OTAHUHU BOROUGH COUNCIL.

The Otahuhu Borough Council met last evening, there being present the Mayor (Mr. R. B. Toddi and Councillors T. Clements. H. J. Hal'. H. Wills. J. S. De Montalk, C. R. Petrie. G. V. Pearc*. and H. R. Linkhorn. Bowser Permit*;.—The question of granting licenses for the erection of bowsers on the kerbing in Great South Road caused considerable discussion. An amendment that they be installed on private property was defeated, and permission to instal on the kerbing was granted, subject to the supervision of the committee appointed. Demolition Order.—The council endorsed the Health Department's recommendation to demolish Chinese premises in Water Street, and to apply a cloeinc order in Luke Street, pending adequate repairs being effected.

Footpath.—An application from Mr. W. Folder, in Great South Kaad. for repa:r to the footpath, was referred to the Works Committee, who will recommend the laying down of concrete slabs, half the cost to be borne by the applicant. Main Highways.—The Mayor reported hi.s interview with the Highway* Board. re assistance towards the cost of laying down the Great South Road in concrete. The board stated that they wouid consider the question of providing half the interest charges and sinking fund on the loun.
