TRANSACTIONS ON 'CHANGE

An advance took place in the price of 4V" per cent War Loans to-day. par being paid for both 1938 and HIS!). The 1 938 issue sold at £09 17/0 at the third call yesterday. Soldiers' Loan fiVi ]>er cent ai .■ wanted at £101 and £101 , and the Government oVs per cent, maturing 1930, are also wanted at the latter price.

Bank of Australasia shares had transaction* yesterday afternoon, at £15, and to-day buyers offered - tj under that price. NTaiioiial Bank of Australasia shares lirried this morning to buyers at £1!) 3/0. but no seiiers ([noted. Bank of New Zealand shares could be placed at £3 2, 9,»but there are no quoted sellers.

Further business was done at the third call yesterday. in Renown Collieries preference shares at 2/10. The ordinary shares were offered at 18/3. but there were no buyers. Hikurangi Coal shares are offered at lower prices, but YVestpon Coal are tinner, sales being made to-day at £1 11, 9. at which price more could be placed.
