TWO LORRIES COLLIDE. CHARGE AGAINST DRIVER. ORDERED TO PAY COSTS. (From Our Own Correspondent.) PL'KKKOHE. this day. Six charges, arising out of a collision between two motor lorries on the Ran-giriri-Mercer Road 011 October 23 last, were preferred against Phillip Aylwanl. of Auckland, befon® Mr. F. H. Levien. S.M., at Pukekohe, yesterday. Upon a conviction being entered on a charge of reckless driving, defendant was ordered to pay £."> 12/ costs. The other charges were withdrawn. The evidence -howed that, while one of the Public Work* Department's truck* was being tipped. about four mile« ,-outh of Mercer, a lorry driven by defendant dashed along and crashed into the stationary lorry. As a result, an employee of the Department, Charles Scanlon. was,,injured, and he spent 43 days in hospital. It was also stated that another lorry and a'motor car pulled up while the Public Works lorry (lischarged it< load, but defendant elerrr* to go ahead regardless of the danger.
