STRUGGLE FOR THE BELT. KEEN CONTEST ANTICIPATED. MASEFIELD AND JAMES FAVOURITES. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) TEENTHAM, this day. The final day at Trentham lias all the elements of good shooting and prospects of a close struggle for the champSjiiship. Although several have possible chances under the conditions that obtain, there should not be any great changes in the top positions. Popular fancy lies between Maserield and James, mainly on account of theu exjierienee and temperament. Masefield entered the ranks of competitive shooting in 1904, and won the belt and grand aggregate twice, was third in the Sydney King's in 1927, and in the final hundred at Bisley, 1910. He represented New Zealand against Australia on several occasions, and made top score against New South Wales in 1010. He was captain of the team last year, and is going to Melbourne this year.

James was shooting for the Wellington Xavals in 1904, and like Masefield has attended every meeting held at Trentham. Ho won the belt in 191.'5, and has secured the grand and Trentham aggregates on several occasions. He won the Victorian grand aggregate in 1909, was second in the Sydney King's in 1911. and fifth on another occasion, three points down. He went to Bisley in 1911, and made top score in the Kolapore Cup. He won the Wairarapa championship twice, also the Hawke's Bav.

Ballinger commenced shooting in 1910. He won the Wairarapa championship in 192G, also the North Wairarapa. He has won the Petone Club championship four times, been in the King's fifty at Trent*am the last four years, tilling tenth place on one occasion.
