DUNEDIN HIDE SALE.

FALL IN LIGHT WEIGHTS. Reporting on the last Dunedin hide sale. Messrs. Waters. Ritchie and Co. report that competition for light ox and all description of cow hides was lifeless, with the result that prices receded from Id to lV6d per lb, the decline being most pronounced on the lighter weights. Medium and heavy ox, on the other hand, were in keen demand, and brought prices which compare favourably with those of the previous sale. Reduced values were anticipated as all. outside markets have shown a heavy fall in values, with the result that shippers are completely out of the market in the meantime. Tanners were keen buyers for medium and heavy ox. and prices for these were very satisfactory. Included in our offerings were some exceptionally stout substance hides, and these received special attention, as high as 16% d per lb being obtained.
