NEW ZEALAND FRUIT IMPORTS

Mr. F. J. Ogden, of Williamsl'own. Victoria, the founder of the movement in Victoria for preference to Australian troods. has informed the, Sydney "Morning Herald" that he was painfully surprised to notice that in New Zealand stores practically everything in dried and tinned fruit lines was I'nlifornian. For this he blamed, not the Australian products, but Australian packers, whose lack of energy and interest, he said, had lost to thenitemporaiily. at any rate, a splendid market. Mr. Ogden also referred to the -New Zealand demand for oranges, which is supplied almost wholly from the Pacificslopes of the United States. California!! agents, he said, were making every effort to secure their hold on the Dominion V market. Nothing short of an intensive campaign on the part of Australian fruit growers and packers would enable them to capture a trade, which, from both tie rtonld geographical points of view! should be in their hands, especially since their products, so far from being inferior
