FATAL ACCIDENT.
MOTOR SALESMAN KILLED.
THROWN FROM SIDE-CAR.
STONE CAUSES MACHINE TO SWERVE.
Thrown from a motor cycle at the corner of Mount Albert Road and Mays Koad last evening, Edwaul Diehl, aged 17, a motor cycle salesman and mechanic, of 6, Calgary Street, Edendale, received such serious injuries that lie died a few hours later. The accident happened just after four o'clock yesterday afternoon. Diehl was teaching a buyer, Mr. T. B. McKechie, to ride the cycle, and was sitting in the side-car while Mr. McKechie rode the machine. For about three-quarters of an hour all went well, but when the corner of Mount Albert and Mays Roads was reached Mr. McKechei lost control when the machine struck a large stone, and the combination swerved off the road, striking a fence. Diehl was thrown from the side-car, and struck his head heavily when he fell. He was taken to the Auckland Hospital by a passing motorist, and died | two hours after admission. Mr. Mcj Kechie, who is a dairy farmer living in Mays Road, was not hurt.
