OUR COMPETITION CORNER.

I wonder how many competitors have thought, as they consumed a thick slice of bread and butter, how many workers of the world had contributed towards the production of a' simple loaf of bread. When I began to think it over I was left with a feeling of surprise that the final cost was so little. Now, for this week's competition, 1 want you to make a list of all the various branches of workmanship which were directly or indirectly concerned in the production of one loaf of bread. First of all there is the baker himself, and then the miller, and the farmer, and the man who made the farmer's implements, and, oh, hundreds of others. Start right at the beginning, and in the "family tree," or other form of tabulation, make a list as outlined above. Remember you MUST tabulate your work, and show clearly what part is played by each person mentioned. Special prizes of 10/, 7/6, 5/, 3/, and four prises of 2/6.
