A UNIQUE COMPETITION.

SOMETHING ENTIRELY NEW THIS WEEK. A WORD TO COMPETITORS. My Dear Boy* and Girls,— The competition this week was indeed a very hard one; nevertheless, it wa* exceptionally well done. Only four competitors succeeded in correctly completing the paragraph, but there were six entries with only one mistake. Two children had but two errors, and there were three with three wrong words. After that, going down the list, the numbers gradually increased until the last entry had thirty mistakes. On the whole 1 am very pleased with the high standard of work submitted, and I must congratulate Joan Coles, Margaret Shaw, Dorothy Brooke, 0.5.8., and Joyce Hunter, the four competitors who carried off the prises in connection with this puzzle. This week's pttxzie introduces to New Zealand a new form of competition, which is sure to be popular with all. Competitors are requested to so arrange and tabulate their work as to help the judges in their difficult task of fjJ fr correcting the entries, which will 0 undoubtedly be heavy.
