THIRD TEST MATCH.
Thank you for publishing my letter ai>J for your editorial remarks. I was fullv aware that Hammnijji had received high praise in England and Australia, but such was in conjunction with the usual comments passed upon players during the progress of the match. I realise also the merit attached to the innings of the opening pair of batsmen in England , * second innings, and prior to writing my letter I had explained to a friend the value of Hobb*» innings. Your omission from my letter of the words "final comments" has somewhat spoiled my prospect* of receiving opinions from local enthusiasts. I am of the opinion still that in the final comments or the final review of the game as published on the 7th inst. Hammond, and, in fact, others of the English team, should hare been mentioned; then from a. public point of view each player would have shared the glorv. To-day I was informed that the action of the "Chronicle" was one of discrimination and on a par with those gate incidents where Gentlemen and took the field by different gates, but I can'hardly agree with such .-s, comparison. * PUZZLED MAC.
