FOXTON RACING CLUB.

ANNUAL MEETING, JAN. 16 AND 17.

TO-MORROW'S FIELDS REVIEWED

(By Telegraph.—Special to " Star.")

WELLINGTON, this dav

The annual meeting of the Foxton Racing Club takes place on Wednesday and Thursday. This is the first occasion that the club has not clashed with the Wellington summer meeting, and go far as acceptances go the meeting promises well, though doubts are expressed as to whether the club will do as well financially by discarding the Anniversary Day holiday.

Racing starts at 11.45 a.m. with the Hurdles. On recent form Panorama and Hymestrason have the best credentials. There is not much form to go on in the novice Stakes. Tenacre, from the same stable as Silvermine, is reported smart; Star Girl has run well this season in similar class.

The field in the Foxton Cup is quite fair class, ae it includes Nightmarch, the winner of the New Zealand Derby, and another well performed three-year-old in Toxeuma. This pair will probably be best backed, and should run well, but Teri is improving and will be hard to beat.

Ringlet and First Ruler read well in the Himatangi Hack, but Warfille may run well.

There is a fair field of hacks in the Awahou Handicap—Havering, Balloon and Aurora Borealig may run proniinentlv.

Epistle won three times on end during the holidays, and as she has again struck form she will be hard to beat in the Anniversary Handicap. Miss Pat, despite her 9.2, may be the best of the others. Boundary, Greenfield and Tenacre look likely in the Marotiri Handicap, where the class is poor. If reserved for the concluding event, instead of running in the Cup, Royal Game might make a showing, but Bright Day and Henna with only the one engagement read the best.
