TROTTING.
NATIVE PRINCE INCIDENT. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON*, this day. The officials of the Wellington Trotting Club have made the following explanation in regard to the scratching of Native Prince for his engagements at the Wellington meeting next Saturday: — Mrs. I. E. Sweetapple. owner of Native Prince, telegraphed from Auckland:— "Native Prince unfairly handicapped, withdraw all engagements." The Wellington Club's officials discovering that Mrs. Sweetapple had the impression that her horse was handicapped on eighteen yards, as published incorrectly in Auckland newspaper, telegraphed, "correct handicap of Native Prince is twelve yards, do you wish to cancel scratching." The club received a telegram from Mrs. Sweetapple to accept for all engagements. The Wellington Club rules that it did not receive Mrs. Steetapple's first telegram, and waited for confirmation of scratching after she had learned (he correct handicap. Under these circumstances it is ruled by the club that Native Prince is an acceptor for Saturday's meeting at the Hutt Park. REHANDICAPS. (By Teletrapb—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. Travis Axworthy hat been penalised 24yds in the Improvers' Handicap at the Wellington trotting meeting.
