CAUGHT ON CROSSING.
EXPRESS STRIKES CATTLE. ANIMALS GET FREE. (By Telrgrnph.— Own Correspondent.) WELLINGTON, this day. The Daylight Limited from Auckland ran into a mob of cattTe at a crossing near Paraparaiimn on Friday night. Several of the cattle were knocked clear and injured. On pulling .up the driver whs surprised to find one still irtraddled across the front of the engine.
Thone who went to disentangle what tliey- imagined was a badly hurt animal were quickly disillusioned, as, regaining Hs senses, the animal was off the cattlecateher in a flash, and bounding across the cattle stops made away.
The train was under way in about ten minutes.
